Alex & Andrew’s wedding at Campaspe House in Woodend was the last fine weekend of the autumn before it got chilly. I was there 4 weeks later and wore my puffa jacket the whole time – quite a contrast to the beautiful day we had there. This assorted bunch of photos should give you a feel for the day – it was really fun and relaxed, with everybody making the most of being away from it all and amongst some great scenery. We manufacture in Tohoku, the region hit by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami - we set up the company to try to create jobs there. I left my job as COO of a major IT company to set up the company. So far we employ 10 people in Tohoku and we would like it to be a lot more! The quality of their workmanship is amazing. Our products combine the incredible beauty of Japanese kimono fabric (it can take three months just to make one piece of kimono fabric and silk kimonos usually cost tens of thousands of dollars when they are new - luckily we can buy second hand ones in perfect condition for a lot less than that!) with perfect Japanese workmanship. We just made our first custom wedding dress and we have made gorgeous evening dresses too. We can do a lot with the lovely fabrics we have.Vintage Kimonos sells western clothes and homeware made from beautiful vintage Japanese silk kimonos. Every piece they make is unique and you can either order items they have in stock or choose a kimono and a design and they tailor clothes in your size.
