Knowing How To Use Baby Formula

Sunday, November 4, 2012

Really. That is what your asking yourself right now. Are they really going to tell us how to use baby formula? Well yes we are, but not to be patronising. We are doing this because there are many parents out there who do not realise that making a feed with baby formula these days is kind of like being a bar tender in a hip Manhattan bar. You need to know the exact mixes and how to store the ingredients so they last as long as possible. We are going to give you a few little tips to get the most out of your baby formula and more importantly make sure that it is ok for your baby. Hey at the end of the day if it is not ok it is your shirt that its getting thrown up over.

It Does Not Last Forever

Some cans of baby formula especially the powdered kind are in cans that are so huge you would think there were to be in a bomb shelter in case of a nuclear war. Well even the largest cans will have an expiration date. Make sure you check the date before each day. And try not to buy more than you need. We wasted loads of baby formula over the years because we bought to much.

Cool As Ice Baby

You want to make sure that you keep the baby formula in a nice cool place. Hot and cold temperatures can wreck havoc with the ingredients in baby formula. So make sue that you are storing the formula correctly. For powder you need to make sure its not in to much of a humid location as it can cause it to all clump together.

Wash Up Good

Make sure you wash all of the stuff properly. This is coming from a guy who hates washing the dishes, but I would always make sure to double check everything when it came to the formula. You do not want any old scabby pieces of formula left on the spoon or anything like that.

Boil The Water

Make sure you have some sterilised water to make the formula with. Of course this is only if you are using powder or liquid formulas. But the water needs to be sterilised. The easiest way to do this is to simply boil the water.

Make A Batch

I found that I was always spending a ton of time making formula or waiting for the boiling water to cool down. So what I started to do was I would make a huge batch in the morning before my child was awake. I would most of the time make enough for around four bottles.

Four was a great number that would get me through most of the day occasional you will need to make a couple more, but if you already have a big batch that really is not that big of a deal. It may sound brutal to be standing there at around 6 in the morning making a bug batch of baby formula, but its so much better than having to run to the kitchen 5 times a day while your baby is screaming the house down because they are hungry.
